NASCAR’s Hailie Deegan Apologizes for Utilizing R-Phrase Throughout Esports Race | Bleacher Report

NASCAR driver Hailie Deegan apologized for utilizing a slur throughout a digital race that was airing on a Twitch stream Sunday evening.

“Earlier tonight I used an insensitive phrase throughout a web based race being broadcast on twitch,” she wrote. “It was inappropriate slang and a silly factor to do. I apologize to everybody who was offended by it.  There is no excuse for it, and I do know I’ve to do higher for my sponsors and my followers.”

TMZ Sports activities famous Deegan, 19, might be heard saying, “Who’s the r—-d behind me? Do not try this, please.”

As Nick Bromberg of Yahoo Sports activities famous, Deegan is the daughter of motocross legend Brian Deegan and have become the primary girl to win a NASCAR ARCA Sequence race in 2018. She completed third within the level standings of NASCAR’s ARCA Sequence in 2020 and is anticipated to compete in a full season within the Truck Sequence in 2021.

This isn’t the primary time a NASCAR driver was heard utilizing a slur throughout an esports race. 

In April, NASCAR suspended Kyle Larson for utilizing the N-word throughout a race. He was reinstated in October and cleared to return by Jan. 1.
